Tours

Ways to see Wrocław with someone taking you round: a free walking tour, a licensed guide, an electric sightseeing car from the Market Square, and by bike, heritage tram or boat. This page names no company and recommends none; where there is a list, it is the city's.

Free walking tours

A walk with a guide that costs nothing up front: at the end you pay the guide what you think it was worth, or nothing. Several companies run them.

  • Where they start. A common meeting point is the Aleksander Fredro monument on the Market Square. Your booking says where yours starts.
  • Book or turn up. The operators take bookings on their own sites, and some will not take you without one.
  • Languages. English, with other languages on some walks.
  • How long. The Old Town walk takes about two and a half hours. There are themed walks as well, among them Jewish Wrocław and the dwarfs.

With a licensed guide

The city's tourism portal keeps a list of Wrocław's guides and guiding firms, each with a phone number, an e-mail address and the languages it guides in. You book with the guide directly and agree the route and how long it takes.

  • The usual walk takes in the Old Town and Ostrów Tumski, the island of the cathedral.
  • Themed walks on the list include Jewish Wrocław and the Four Denominations District around the White Stork Synagogue, the dwarfs, the legends of Ostrów Tumski, and the city after dark.
  • Free walks from the city. In summer the city's tourism department and partner guides run free guided walks, some of them in English and other languages. The listing says how to join each one.

Checked 9 October 2026 The list and the summer walks change from year to year.

By electric car

Small electric cars, the melexes (meleksy), take passengers round the sights with the driver as guide. The commentary comes from the driver or from a recorded audio guide, in several languages.

Checked 9 October 2026 Routes, languages and times are each company's own. Ask before you get in.

By bike, tram or boat

By bike

Some guides on the city's list lead tours by bike, booked the same way as a walk. The city's free summer programme has included a guided bike ride.

By heritage tram

On weekends and holidays from May to September, line T runs old trams from the Opera stop to the Zoo on ordinary city fares; Wrocław with children has the details, and Getting around the city's trams and tickets. Separately, some guiding firms hire a historic tram with a guide for a group, booked ahead.

By boat

Boats take visitors along the Odra between the islands. The route most often taken runs between Ostrów Tumski and the landing by the Zoo, and a cruise usually lasts from 25 minutes to an hour.

Checked 9 October 2026 Seasons, timetables and fares change. Check with the operator before you go.
