Centennial Hall
A reinforced-concrete hall designed by Max Berg, built in 1911–1913 and on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2006.
What it is
The Centennial Hall — Hala Stulecia in Polish — is a reinforced-concrete hall under a ribbed dome 65 metres across. It was designed by the architect Max Berg and built between 1911 and 1913.
The 1913 exhibition
The hall opened in 1913 with the Centennial Exhibition. It was built to serve as an exhibition space, an assembly hall, a theatre auditorium and a sports venue.
Recognised
On the World Heritage list.
UNESCO inscribed the Centennial Hall on the World Heritage List in 2006, describing it as a milestone in the history of reinforced-concrete architecture.
Seeing it
The hall stands in the Exhibition Grounds, which also include the Four Domes Pavilion and a pergola, beside Szczytnicki Park.
