Trains from Wrocław
Wrocław Główny, the main station, has direct trains to the large Polish cities and across the borders to Germany, Czechia and Austria, and regional trains out into Lower Silesia.

The stations
The main station is Wrocław Główny, on Piłsudskiego Street south of the Old Town. You reach the platforms through tunnels under the tracks: the main tunnel from the station hall, and a narrower side tunnel between Piłsudskiego Street and Sucha Street, where the station's south pavilion is and the coach station is close by. There are lifts up to the platforms.
Each operator has its own ticket windows in the main hall, and there are more in the south pavilion; the ticket machines sell tickets for all three operators. Luggage lockers are in the central tunnel.
Trams stop on the streets round the station: in front of it on Piłsudskiego Street, where the stop is called Dworzec Główny, and on Peronowa, Kołłątaja and Stawowa streets. How to pay for a tram is on Getting around.
Regional trains also call at other stations and stops inside the city, each with “Wrocław” in its name, such as Wrocław Swojczyce or Wrocław Żerniki; a city ticket covers them, as below. There is no train to the airport: buses run there from the station, as Getting around explains.
Who runs which trains
Three operators run the trains you are likely to take, and each sells its own tickets.
- PKP Intercity runs the long-distance and international trains. Its trains carry a category before the number: EIP (the Pendolino), EIC, IC and TLK. On an EIP train every seat is reserved, so the ticket and the seat are bought together.
- Koleje Dolnośląskie (KD) runs regional trains across Lower Silesia.
- Polregio runs regional trains too.
Where the trains go
Straight lines show that a direct train runs, not the route of the track. Land and borders: Natural Earth, public domain.
Abroad
Direct long-distance trains run from Wrocław Główny to:
- Berlin, by day and overnight, through Frankfurt (Oder). Track works put part of this route on replacement buses on some dates in 2026.
- Leipzig, through Węgliniec and the border at Horka.
- Prague, through Kłodzko and the border at Międzylesie.
- Vienna and Graz, in through carriages: you stay in your seat while the carriage is moved onto another train at Bohumín in Czechia.
In Poland
Direct PKP Intercity trains link Wrocław with Warsaw, Kraków, Poznań, Gdańsk and Gdynia, Szczecin, Katowice, Łódź, Lublin, Białystok and Przemyśl, among other places.
Day trips by regional train
Koleje Dolnośląskie runs direct trains from Wrocław Główny to towns that make a day out:
- Wałbrzych, and on to Jelenia Góra and Szklarska Poręba;
- Świdnica;
- Kłodzko.
Some PKP Intercity trains also run to Jelenia Góra and Kłodzko.
Tickets
As a rule a ticket is for one operator's trains: a PKP Intercity ticket is not valid on a KD train, or the other way round. Buy at the station's ticket windows or machines, or online from the operator: PKP Intercity on its site and app, KD in its online shop, Polregio on its site and in its app. Other sites and apps sell tickets for several operators.
For one journey that changes from one operator to another, the Wspólny Bilet (“common ticket”) is a single ticket at one fare for the whole trip. Each operator that takes part sells it at its ticket windows or through BILKOM, a sales site and app.
Buying on board
All three sell tickets on the train, and charge a fee for it on top of the fare. PKP Intercity’s is 20 zł per person; it and KD do not charge it if the station where you got on has no ticket office or it was closed. On KD and Polregio trains, go to the conductor before you board or straight after.
City tickets on trains inside Wrocław
A Wrocław public transport ticket valid for 24 hours or longer is also valid on KD and Polregio trains inside the city: between stations and stops with “Wrocław” in the name, and the Iwiny stop. Longer period tickets count too. It is not valid on PKP Intercity trains, and shorter time tickets, such as 30 or 90 minutes, do not count. A paper ticket has to be validated in a tram or bus first. The arrangement runs to the end of 2030.
Children
Under Poland’s statutory discounts, children under 4 travel free, on a ticket with a 100% discount and with a document showing their age. From 4 until they start the obligatory pre-school year, children travel on a 37% discount.
Live departures and delays
Portal Pasażera, run by the rail network’s manager, PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe, shows the trains on the network with their delays and disruptions, by station or by train, in English as well as Polish, and as an app. The operators’ own sites and apps carry their trains, and the station has departure boards.
Parking at the main station
Wrocław Główny has two paid car parks belonging to PKP, managed by the company CTECH under the name PKP Mobility: an underground one, entered from Piłsudskiego and Peronowa streets, and one on the surface at the station. Both are open round the clock and neither is guarded. Spaces marked Kiss&Ride, for dropping someone off or picking them up, are free for the first 15 minutes.
