Wrocław Główny

The main railway station: a brick Neo-Gothic building, built in 1855–1857 and renovated in 2010–2012.

What it is

Wrocław Główny is the city’s main railway station, at ulica marsz. Józefa Piłsudskiego 105. The building dates from the time when the city was Breslau, and it was built for the Upper Silesian Railway and the Breslau–Posen–Glogau Railway.

Designed and built

The station building was built in 1855–1857 to a design by Wilhelm Grapow, a royal builder. It is made of brick, in a Neo-Gothic style that follows English Tudor Gothic.

Later changes

Rebuilt from 1899, renovated 2010–2012.

The station was rebuilt from 1899. A large renovation of the building, the platforms and the forecourt was carried out in 2010–2012.
