What it is
Market Hall is a covered market hall at 17 Piaskowa Street, at the corner of Nankiera Square and Świętego Ducha Street, close to the Piaskowy Bridge on the Odra. It was built when the city was Breslau, as one of two market halls built there. The site had been occupied by the Piasek Arsenal.
Designed and built
The hall was built to a design by Richard Plüddemann and Heinrich Küster. Its outside is brick in a Neo-Gothic style, with two towers carrying clock faces.
The building has three longitudinal naves and a full basement. Over the main nave the roof is carried on parabolic arches of reinforced concrete.

After the war
Restored by 1983.
The hall was damaged in the Second World War. A major renovation in the early 1980s was completed in 1983. The building is entered in the register of monuments.
